Challenges Faced by the EU in Implementing the AI Act
The Financial Times details the reasons behind the adjustments and postponements of the EU AI Act, which are part of the Digital Omnibus on AI Regulation Proposal. The article points out that while EU policymakers initially aimed to provide legal clarity for emerging AI technologies when the AI Act was agreed upon in 2023, the rapid evolution of generative AI meant the law was considered incomplete and necessitated further legislation for establishing codes of practice, guidelines, and standards by its effective date.
